VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
The VITA program provides free tax preparation services to households with incomes of $60,000 or less. Certified volunteers undergo training to assist with basic tax returns in communities nationwide. VITA also offers free electronic filing. The program operates annually from February to April 15th (or the tax filing deadline).
