Rooted in the ethos of compassion and community solidarity, Greer Relief traces its origins back to the depths of the Great Depression, when concerned citizens united to prevent their neighbors from succumbing to hunger and cold. Since then, we have remained steadfast in our mission to combat hunger and homelessness, evolving our strategies to meet the changing needs of our community.
Our interventions are multifaceted, encompassing:
We recognize that the factors contributing to need are often multifaceted and deeply entrenched. Whether stemming from generational cycles of poverty and addiction or sudden crises like job loss or medical emergencies, every family facing hardship deserves compassion and support.

At Greer Relief, we believe in addressing the root causes of poverty rather than merely addressing its symptoms. In 2023 alone, we provided assistance to 6,093 neighbors in need. A testament to the effectiveness of our prevention efforts is the low rate of repeat requests for assistance—90% of those we helped were new to needing aid.
The impact of Greer Relief is made possible through the generous support of our community. We receive funding from the United Way of Greenville County and the United Way of the Piedmont, alongside invaluable contributions from concerned citizens, businesses, and faith-based groups. Together, we strive to build a community where every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive.
