Beverly was admitted to the hospital 6 months ago. She was there for four months due to
congestive heart failure and stroke. For the first two months, her daughter came down to help
her out. Her daughter was able to make sure that Beverly’s bills were paid. After that, her
daughter had to go back to her job. Once Beverly was released, she had two months of bills to
catch up on. The companies were understanding of the situation, but she discovered that a
water leak had started while she was in the hospital. The company came out to the house to
confirm that it was not part of their lines. Beverly had someone come out to check her pipes
but they said they couldn’t find anything. After a fourth month of high bills, she called a
second person to come out and they discovered a leak from the water heater. He was able to
turn off the valve so that the leak would stop until he was able to come back out to fix the
problem. Because of the leak, she owed over $1200.00 for just a month and a half of electric
and water service. Greer Relief was able to partner with another agency and cover the entire
balance to prevent her electric and water from being disconnected.
