Spirit Weeks are a great opportunity to dress up, participate in activities, and create comradery amongst students. For Greer High School, though, their spirit week was an opportunity to give back to their community in a big way.
From February 26 through March 4, Greer High held a number of fundraisers organized by the student government to benefit Greer Relief. These ranged from restaurant takeovers to a dodgeball tournament. Thanks to the planning and leadership from the student government, these fundraisers were a huge success. The grand finale to their week of fun was a school-wide pep rally where they would reveal the total amount raised. This number was kept top secret, only a few students and faculty knew the outcome of their efforts.
The pep rally had music from the band, a cheer demonstration, and a competition between grades for the spirit stick. Finally, it was time for the big reveal. Amongst a roar of cheers from students in the bleachers, the amount raised was revealed to be $16,671!
We wanted to extend a huge thank you to the yellow jacket family for blessing us with this gift. This donation will help so many neighbors in need. Thank you to all the students, members of the Greer High student government, faculty, and supporters of Greer High for making this possible.
