Dani was in a car accident in May that left her with complications to her back and legs. Since
the accident, she is not able to go up and down stairs. She currently lives in a townhouse
where all the bedrooms are upstairs and she has had to sleep downstairs on the couch since
May. She is waiting for her lease to expire at the end of the month so she can move into an
apartment all on one level. With her lease expiring, she was able to find an open spot for a
first floor apartment at a sister rental company. Dani also had to have surgery a month ago
because of the injuries from the accident and was out of work for a couple of weeks. She was
able to receive STD while she was out of work but when she returned, she was on light duty.
They have gradually upped her hours to full time. Dani also has a son, Ashton, who just
graduated from high school and is working part time. He has a mental disability, but has been
working with Vocational Rehabilitation to be able to handle more hours at work. With Ashton
working only a couple days per week and her hours being less than normal, Dani doesn’t have
enough to cover all of the move-in costs for the apartment. She has enough from her last
check to be able to pay the deposit and fees, but she cannot cover the first month’s rent. We
were able to partner with another agency to cover all of the first month’s rent so that Dani
and Ashton can move in to their new apartment.
