Gray and Lily have 3 small children, with the two youngest not yet in school. They came to Greer Relief after Gray was laid off from work. Lily has been a stay at home mom and this arrangement was working fine while Gray was working. Gray had also been diagnosed with COPD and it had recently gotten worse. He also came down with an infection and that had him missing even more work. He was employed through a temp service so once he started missing work because of the medical issues he was terminated. The doctors are working to get the infection cleared up and to get better control of the COPD. He has applied for SS Disability and SSI and is waiting to hear a decision from them. Since Gray has been at home and is not sure if or when he will be released to go back to work, Lily has started looking for employment and Gray is now at home and able to watch the kids. We were able to pay what was due for their lot rent as well as their water bill. They own the mobile home that’s on the lot so they don’t have to worry about a house payment. They were also invited to participate in the Adopt-A-Family Program to help with Christmas gifts for the family.
