Kira and Grayson came to Greer Relief seeking assistance with their Duke Energy bill and food. They have four children and are a one income household since they have two small children not in school yet. Grayson’s income is usual just enough to scrape by on so they are not able to put any money aside for emergencies. Grayson has been diagnosed with degenerative discs and has had some issues in the past. He had an injury at work two months ago and has been missing some work to get to doctor appointments. Since he is paid hourly, his checks have been less than normal. This has caused them to get behind on their bills. He has now been released from doctor’s care and is back to work full time. Once they are caught up they will be able to manage their expenses once again. I referred him to AccessHealth to help with the medical care that he needs and Greer Relief was able to help get their Duke bill caught up so they were back on track again. Greer Relief was also able to help them with a week’s worth of food to help them make it until they get their next amount of SNAP benefits and we were able to help them with personal items, diapers and baby formula.
